    Microplastics
Did you know that more than 500 microplastic ingredients are widely used in cosmetics and personal care products? And these are only the ingredients that we are aware of. In 2012, the Plastic Soup Foundation started the Beat the Microbead campaign. The aim of the campaign is to prevent microplastics in personal care products ending up in the environment. All HelemaalShea products have been awarded the Beat the Microbead 'Zero Plastic Inside' certification. This certification means that the products are not only free from plastic packaging, they are completely free from microplastics inside the products as well.

About the brand

HelemaalShea

HelemaalShea is a small soap factory located in De Rijp, North Holland. It's a small business that makes natural soap, shampoo bars and zero-waste skin care products by hand. All of HelemaalShea's products are vegan and made with natural ingredients. The ingredients used and the final product have not been tested on animals.

The natural soaps are handmade according to the cold process method. This method involves the mixing of vegetable oils and butters with lye, which causes a chemical reaction called saponification. Nothing remains of the lye after the saponification process and the drying period of the soap. The saponification process produces natural glycerine, which is found in every piece of cold process soap. The end result: a beautiful piece of soap!
