Good intentions - 'I want to live sustainably'
More exercise, less stress and healthier eating. At the end of the year we often take a moment to reflect and make good resolutions for the new year. New round, new chances!
At the beginning of the year, we are optimistic and motivated to improve our lives. We think about what we really find important in life; our health, family and friends, personal development and the climate. Yet, after a few weeks, we often fall back into old habits. This is because the goals set are often too big. Ultimately, good intentions have to do with behavioral change and that is easier to achieve if we make our goals concrete and manageable.
Is one of your New Year's resolutions to live more sustainably, but you don't know where to start? Never buy plastic again, never eat meat again, never go on holiday by plane again and never drive a car again. Isn't soy bad for the environment too? Can I still wear leather shoes? Don't drive yourself crazy by wanting to be perfect and don't put a label on what you do. 'I live a zero waste lifestyle' or 'I'm vegan'. By putting yourself in a box, you put a lot of pressure on yourself.
Find what works for you, what makes you happy and what makes your life less complicated. Enjoy the process and share the new things that come your way. The power of a zero waste life is that you have control over your own choices and that you have a big impact. You can't change others, but you can change yourself. With that you can inspire others to action.
We share some concrete tips that you can start with! Small and easy steps that contribute to a healthier life for you and the environment.
