Chocolatemakers was founded by Enver and Rodney. They produce sustainable chocolate on solar energy and emission-free in their factory in the port of Amsterdam. Because approximately 70% of the taste of chocolate comes from the bean, Chocolatemakers finds it only normal to pay a fair and good price for cocoa. Chocolatemakers pays twice the price of the Fairtrade standard so that the farmers have enough money to live on.

The terroir, the climate and the way of harvesting, fermenting and drying all have a huge impact on the taste of the chocolate. At Chocolatemakers, everything revolves around the perfect taste thanks to a sustainable cocoa chain. The cocoa bean is the seed of a cocoa fruit and Chocolatemakers work directly with the farmer cooperatives in all their origins and are involved with the cocoa from the moment the bean is still hanging on the tree.

The cocoa beans from the Dominican Republic and Colombia travel entirely on wind power (without CO2 emissions!) in 4 months with the sailing ship Tres Hombres to Amsterdam. There, the beans are lovingly transformed into delicious chocolate bars in a factory that runs entirely on solar energy. Within Amsterdam, Chocolatemakers then transports its bars with electric cargo bikes from Foodlogica. And every six months is the Schokofahrt, then the bars are transported to Germany, also by cargo bike!
