Palm oil is an eatable plant based oil, derived from the fruits of palm trees. Approximately 85% of the worlds palm oil is sourced from Indonesia and Malaysia. Palm oil plantations are a huge driver for deforestation of the rainforest, destroying the habitat of local populations and threatened species like the Orangutan.
Deforestation also contributes to global warming because of the carbon dioxide released into the air.
Certification schemes exist for 'sustainable palm oil', but as indicated by the Greenpeace report 'Destruction: Certified', companies are still associated with the destruction of tropical rainforests despite a sustainability label on their products. They are also often involved in human rights violations.
This is why we do not offer products that contain palm oil. All products on our website are palm oil free.
