This subtly oxidized oolong from 9teas from the Chinese province of Fujian has a convincing taste. Typical are the tightly rolled leaves and the natural fruity sweetness.
Oolong is a traditional Chinese tea. Oolong is semi-oxidized, which makes the taste somewhere between green and black tea. Green tea is not oxidized at all, while black tea is fully oxidized.
The tea is a loose tea. The loose tea leaves give your cup of tea more flavor and at the same time you produce less waste.
Tea plantations
The quality of the working conditions on the tea plantations is just as important to 9teas as the quality of the tea. Fair wages, a safe workplace, normal working hours and a ban on child labor are unfortunately not always observed in the tea industry. That is why 9teas buys its teas through a cooperative that monitors the working conditions on site so that they can be sure that the working conditions for the employees are good. The cooperative is Fairtrade, UTZ and Rainforest Alliance certified, but does not exclude farmers without a Fairtrade certificate, for example. This is because only a small part of the farmers can pay the costs for such a certificate while they grow their tea sustainably.
Packaging
The packaging is fully recyclable and plastic-free! The tea is packed in a glass jar with an aluminum lid, because both raw materials are recyclable. In addition, the labels consist of natural raw materials that are extracted from renewable sources as much as possible. The labels are fully industrially compostable and can therefore be put in the glass container with the jar! Even more fun than recycling the glass jars is of course to give them a second life by reusing them for food, a candle or a plant, for example.

9teas
9teas was founded by Tessa, because she is addicted to tea. Tessa believes that loose tea is not only the tastiest, but also the best for our planet. What has always bothered her is the amount of waste that is produced for a cup of tea. Much of that waste and plastic ends up in our nature! With the thought: 'this must and can be better' she started 9teas started.
9teas only sells loose tea and you can taste the difference. Loose tea is fortunately becoming increasingly popular, but many people still opt for the convenience of a pre-packaged (plastic) tea bag and that is a shame. Because in addition to the fact that a tea bag contributes to the waste problem and often consists of billions of microplastics, a lot of flavor is lost when tea leaves are ground into the fine powder that is in a tea bag. Did you know that some tea bags not only contain plastic but are also bleached? 9teas is changing this: more tea, less waste!
