What materials are sustainable sponges and wipes made of?

The sustainable sponges and wipes in our range are plastic-free, plant-based and biodegradable. The sponges and wipes are made from the following materials:

• Loofah sponge - made from a renewable raw material that absorbs CO2 when growing. The loofah plant is a vigorously growing vine from the cucumber family that is rich in durable fibres, yet soft and flexible. When ripe, the inside of the loofah fruit develops a network of fibres that is perfect for cleaning and exfoliating purposes when dried.
• Coconut fiber scrub pad - made from a natural fibre extracted from between the hard internal shell of the coconut and the outer coat of the coconut. It is a byproduct of the coconut harvesting process. The new crops are also regrown repeatedly on the same trees. Coconut fibre is naturally antibacterial, so perfect for cleaning.
• Compostable sponges and wipes - made from a mix of renewable, plant-based raw materials of cotton, wood pulp and flax. This material is highly absorbent, making it an excellent cleaning product.
• Steel sources - made from steel, perfect for tough removal of dirt. They are plastic-free, reusable and recyclable.

What different types of sponges and wipes are there?

There are several types of compostable sponges and wipes that can be used for cleaning your home.

• The coconut fibre sponge is made of a harder material, so it is great for scrubbing hard surfaces such as cooktops or the shower.
• The loofah sponge is a soft, flexible, yet sturdy non-scratch sponge, allowing you to use it for everything. The loofah sponge is great for washing dishes or cleaning surfaces, baths, sinks, tiles and faucets.
• The yellow sponges made from a blend of renewable, plant-based ingredients are soft and look exactly like the regular sponges we all know. Use them for washing dishes or cleaning the rest of the house.
• You can use the highly absorbent compostable wipes to replace your microfiber wipes.
