Why natural facial care?

Your skin (especially the skin on your face) is exposed to external factors such as the sun, dust, dirt, water and sweat all day long. This can cause your skin to dry out and become damaged. It is important to take good care of your skin and what better way to do that than with natural facial care products? Many 'normal' facial care products contain harmful ingredients that only make things more difficult for your skin.

For example, many skin care products contain SLS (a chemical that damages the protective layer of your skin), parabens (chemicals that disrupt hormones), alcohol (which dries out the skin) and triclosan (a synthetic substance that has been linked to the impairment of fertility), to name a few. All ingredients that you would rather not have anywhere near your skin and that undermine the importance of a natural facial care to emphasize once again.

In addition, most natural facial care products are also vegan & cruelty-free. At Zo Zero, all facial care products are even vegan & cruelty-free.

What natural facial care products are there?

Actually, all 'normal' facial care products also come in a natural version. Think of natural face masks, natural facial cleansers such as toners and scrubs, natural creams and serums, natural lip balms and reusable cotton pads made of organic cotton.

In what order do I use my natural facial care products?

Not only is having a natural skincare routine important, but also the order in which you use your vegan skincare products. By using the products in the right order, you ensure that the products can do their job properly. It is not necessary to follow the entire routine every day. Start with a cleanser, face cream and SPF. Do you have very dry skin? Then add a serum or face oil. And for the real die-hards, this is the correct order for the optimal natural skincare routine:

Step 1. Natural facial cleansing

It is important to always start by cleansing your face. Do this both in the evening and in the morning. Remove makeup and dirt so that your skin is completely clean before you start the rest of your vegan skincare routine.

Step 2: Natural facial scrub

Use a natural facial scrub 2 to 4 times a week to remove dead skin cells from your face. This will reduce the chance of wrinkles and pimples and make your skin more radiant.

Step 3: Natural Face Mask

Use a natural face mask 2 to 3 times a week. Using a face mask reduces pores and helps fight blackheads and prevent pimples.

Step 4. Natural toner

A natural toner is important to remove the last bits of dirt from your face. In addition, a toner soothes and protects your skin and helps restore the pH value of your skin. An essential step in your natural facial care.

Step 5: Natural facial serum

Use a light serum (without oil) daily to protect your skin from free radicals in air pollution during the day and use a nourishing serum with hyaluronic acid at night to hydrate your skin. Please note that UpCircle's facial serum contains oil and is therefore used as a facial oil after your day or night cream (see step 8).

Step 6: Natural Eye Cream

You can also apply natural day cream under your eyes, but because the skin under your eyes is thinner, you can also use special natural eye cream. Eye cream is often thinner than face cream, so you apply it under your face cream.

Step 7: Natural day cream or natural night cream

Finally, it's time to hydrate your face with a natural day or night cream. The cream will keep your skin hydrated and seal in all the other layers you've used before.

Step 8: Natural Facial Oil

Use a natural facial oil, or an oil-based serum, after all other natural skincare products, as the other products will not be able to penetrate the oil. UpCircle’s oil-based serum provides intense nourishment and hydration and is the perfect finishing touch to your vegan skincare routine.

Step 9. Mineral SPF

And last but not least: protect your skin from the sun. This is perhaps the most important step in your natural skincare routine. By protecting your skin from UV rays, you can prevent cancer and skin aging. If your natural day cream does not contain SPF, use sunscreen. You can use the mineral SPF after the natural facial oil, because you are only applying it to protect your skin and not to nourish or hydrate it.

Ultimately, natural skincare products are cheaper, because you are not paying for fillers that do nothing for your skin. Natural skincare is packed with active ingredients, so you need much less than regular products!

What natural facial care products can't you find at Zo Zero?

At Zero you will only find natural facial care products from brands that do their best to use as little (bio)plastic as possible. With care products this is sometimes not 100% possible, but companies can at least do their best!

For this reason, you will not find any products from the brand at Zo Zero, for example Naive. Naïf sells beautiful products with only good ingredients and Naïf is a B Corp, but Naïf products are packaged in bioplastic. We are not fans of bioplastic for products that have an alternative, because bioplastic lasts almost as long in nature as conventional plastic. That is why we have chosen not to sell products packaged in bioplastic, such as those from Naïf.
