UpCircle’s cleansing balm with apricot powder is perfect for gently removing makeup (including mascara), pollution and impurities. Skin is deeply cleansed, soothed and hydrated. Apricot powder is combined with skin-calming blackcurrant seed, blue tansy and sea buckthorn oils. The cleansing cream has a lovely lemongrass smell and is suitable for all skin types.

Apricot powde
UpCircle gives ingredients that would otherwise be discarded a second chance. This cleansing cream is made with the finely-ground powder of discarded apricot stones, a natural by-product of the apricot oil industry and rich in antioxidant Vitamin E. The powder helps with the ease with which it can be spread across the skin – it enhances the dispersion of the end product.

Sea buckthorn oil
Sea buckthorn oil, high in vitamin E, C and Omega 7 fatty acids, helps skin retain its elasticity. Naturally hydrating, this oil keeps skin moisturised, avoiding dryness and irritation.

Rosemary oil
Rosemary oil provides stimulation, oxygenation and overall reviving refreshment to skin. It is also antibacterial, helping to prevent breakouts. Rosemary oil is an anti-inflammatory and also works wonders on puffiness around the eyes.

Oat oil
Rich in vitamin E, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and antioxidants that protect against harmful pollutants. Oat oil is known for its ability to soothe maturing, sensitive and damaged skin, and it supports skin elasticity.

How to use
Massage a coin-sized amount of cleansing cream between your fingers and onto your face in upward circular motions. Remove with a warm, damp cloth. Suitable for daily use.

Best used as the first cleanse to break down make-up, SPF and any oils (sebum, sweat) on the surface of the skin. Follow with a water-based cleanse to remove any impurities in the pores.

Use the UpCircle metal scoops to simply apply the balm without having to use your fingers.

Beat the Microbead - Microplastics
UpCircle's cleansing balm has the 'Look for the Zero - Zero Plastic Inside' logo from Beat the Microbead.

Packaging
This cleansing balm is housed in a glass jar with an aluminium lid. The packaging is fully recyclable. There is a plastic liner in the cap which makes the bottle leak proof and air tight. It also helps to preserve the product longer and protect the lid from the essential oils in the toner. Essential oils can cause aluminium to oxidise (meaning it develops a black coating) which can spoil the product. At present there is no suitable alternative. We recommend reusing the bottles as much as you can and if you do throw them away, recycle the plastic liner separately.

In 2016, UpCircle siblings Will and Anna quit their jobs and risked it all to nurture and grow their by-product beauty baby. The circular economy sits at the heart of what UpCircle does. UpCircle hints at ‘upcycling’, the process of making something better from things that already exist. The UpCircle mission is to leave the world better than they found it by transforming ingredients that would otherwise be discarded into natural, organic beauty products.

Each product in UpCircle’s range sources and rescues by-products from other industries – the food and drink industry in particular. The UpCircle story started with the idea of giving used coffee grounds a new lease of life. UpCircle now also gives chai tea spices and fruit stones a new beginning. At UpCircle nothing is safe from being UpCircled! Food ingredients can have powerful effects on the body - inside and out – so there’s an opportunity to create beauty products from food ingredients that are being discarded yet still have much to offer our skin.

UpCircle uses only the finest plant-based ingredients, and never test on animals. The packaging across UpCircle’s range is 99% plastic-free and they offer plastic-free refill options for the 1%.
